SCC at European-Asian Legal Congress

Annette Magnusson, Secretary General of the SCC, spoke on the topic of “International dispute resolution – a modern success story of legal integration” at a congress in Ekaterinburg, Russia, last week.

The speech was delivered at the plenary session of the yearly European-Asian Legal Congress which opened on 7 June 2012 in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Attendees of the congress included distinguished professors, teachers of law, judges and practicing lawyers.

This year the congress was dedicated to “Legal forms of Integration processes in the contemporary world: reality and perspectives”. The panels discussed the questions that arise from the problems of improving the entrepreneurial, banking, insurance, labor, energy, migratory, tax and custom legislations in Russia, member states of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsES), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the European Union. Panelists also examined problems with the measures utilized to counteract organized crime. 

In connection with her visit to Ekaterinburg, Annette Magnusson also participated in the meeting of a congressional working group on “Modernization of the economy and entrepreneurial (commercial) legislation of Russia, member states of the EurAsEC, the SCO and the European Union”.
