The SCC at the Second Annual International Arbitration Academy
25 June 2012

SCC Legal Counsel, Johan Lundstedt, will teach a workshop on SCC arbitration at the 2012 International Arbitration Academy in Paris on 17 and 19 July. 188 candidates from 74 countries have been selected to participate in this three week academy focused on all aspects of international arbitration.

Participants will engage in advanced courses taught by some the most renowned experts in the fields of international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration. This year, Professor William Park will teach a general course on "The Role and the Rule of Law in Arbitration" and six special courses will be taught by Professor Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler, Professor W. Michael Reisman, Professor Eric Loquin, Professor M. Mahmoud Mohamed Salah, Professor Hi-Taek Shin and James Castello. Professor Sergei Lebedev will deliver the Inaugural Lecture on the "The Negotiation of the 1958 New York Convention" and Professor Jan Paulsson will give the Berthold Goldman Lecture on "the Pyramids case". Students will also participate in five workshops and seminars, like the one taught by Johan Lundstedt on SCC arbitrations.

The International Arbitration Academy is an initiative of the "Comité français de l’arbitrage" (CFA) and was created as a response to the growing demand for specialized teaching in international arbitration. The academy is designed for practitioners specializing in international arbitration, doctoral students, government officials and graduate law students. 132 participants took part in the academy’s inaugural program in 2011.
